Retro 2048 – Privacy Policy

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how Cozy Retro Games (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you play Retro 2048 (the “App”) on iOS devices.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. We collect only the minimum data necessary to operate the App and improve your experience. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

Key facts: Retro 2048 is free to play and supported by optional advertisements. The App uses anonymous authentication by default — no account or registration is required. Game Center integration is entirely optional.

All Firebase services operate on Google’s infrastructure. Data may be processed in the United States and other countries where Google operates data centers. Google is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

4. Apple Game Center Optional

Game Center integration is entirely optional. The App functions fully without signing in to Game Center. If you choose to connect:

  • Your Game Center Player ID and display name are stored in Firebase Firestore alongside your high scores
  • Your scores may appear on public global leaderboards
  • Your Game Center data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy
  • You can disconnect at any time through iOS Settings → Game Center

Without Game Center, all your scores are stored anonymously under a randomly generated identifier that is not linked to your real identity.

5. Advertising GDPR CCPA

The App displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob. On first launch, you will be shown a consent dialog (where required by law) to choose your advertising preferences:

5.1 Consent (EU/EEA — GDPR)

Users in the European Economic Area are shown a Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent dialog compliant with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF 2.2). You may:

  • Accept all: Receive personalized ads based on your interests
  • Reject / Minimal selection: Receive non-personalized, contextual ads only

You can update your advertising preferences at any time in the App’s settings.

5.2 App Tracking Transparency (iOS — ATT)

In accordance with Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework, the App will request your permission before accessing your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA) for cross-app tracking purposes. You may decline at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

5.3 Removing Ads

You can permanently remove all advertisements with a one-time in-app purchase of Remove Ads. After purchase, no advertising data is collected through AdMob.

5.4 Do Not Sell (CCPA)

We do not sell your personal information. If you are a California resident and wish to exercise your CCPA rights, please contact us at the address below.

6. In-App Purchases

In-app purchases (coins and Remove Ads) are processed entirely by Apple via StoreKit. We do not collect, store, or process your payment information. Apple’s Privacy Policy governs all purchase transactions.

We receive only the following information from Apple:

  • Whether a purchase was completed successfully
  • The product identifier that was purchased

Your purchase history is stored on Apple’s servers and is not accessible to us beyond the above.

8. Your Rights

8.1 EU/EEA Residents (GDPR) GDPR

Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to:

  • Access — Request a copy of personal data we hold about you
  • Rectification — Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Erasure — Request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”)
  • Restriction — Request that we limit processing of your data
  • Data portability — Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Object — Object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Withdraw consent — Withdraw consent for data processing at any time
  • Lodge a complaint — File a complaint with your national data protection authority

8.2 California Residents (CCPA) CCPA

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal data is collected, used, shared, or sold
  • Delete personal information we hold about you
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell data)
  • Non-discrimination for exercising your rights

8.3 Other Jurisdictions

Users in other countries may have additional rights under applicable local laws (e.g., Brazil’s LGPD, Canada’s PIPEDA, UK GDPR, Australia’s Privacy Act). We will honor all lawful requests from users in any jurisdiction.

9. Children’s Privacy

Retro 2048 is rated 4+ on the App Store and is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages.

The App is not designated as “Made for Kids” and does not qualify as a child-directed service under COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act).

If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at info@cozyretrogames.com and we will delete it promptly.

10. International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence, including the United States. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place:

  • Google LLC is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework
  • Google’s Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) govern data transfers from the EU
  • Apple Inc. is also certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will:

  • Update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page
  • Post a notice within the App (if material changes affect you)

Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
